IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are a case participant (attorney, party, witness, or other person who will actively participate in the hearing), it is strongly recommended that you join Zoom using the Zoom application rather than by a telephone connection. If you must appear by telephone, the numbers posted for each judge are for the public and are listen-only, so you will need to contact the Courtroom Deputy (CRD) at least one business day before the hearing to request a Zoom invitation (which will be sent via email) in order to join the hearing as a case participant.

Chambers Copy Requirements
The processing of unnecessary chambers copies wastes resources and burdens the court. Pursuant to Civil Local Rule 5-1(d)(7), chambers copies should not be submitted unless required by the assigned judge’s standing order or specifically requested by the assigned judge.
Judges’ standing orders may include additional requirements and may differ from the local rules in other particulars. If they are not in agreement, a judge’s standing order supersedes the local rules.
One set of courtesy copies is required for the following:
1. Criminal Motions (Motion, Declarations, Oppositions and Replies);
2. Civil Motions (Motion, Declarations, Oppositions and Replies);
3. Sentencing Documents;
4. Case Management Statements.
Two sets of courtesy copies are required for:
1. Pretrial Conference filings
All courtesy copies must be unstapled and three-hole punched at the left margin. Please do NOT provide binders with the courtesy copies. All courtesy copies must bear the ECF stamp (case number, document number, date and page number) on the top of each page. The courtesy copies must be delivered to the Clerk’s Office no later than noon two (2) days after filing of the document. (E.g., courtesy copies due at noon on Tuesday for sentencing memos filed the Friday prior.) For motions to seal, the parties shall refer to the specific instructions regarding courtesy copies contained in Section 9(c) of Judge Illston’s Standing Order. Please direct any questions regarding courtesy copies to sicrd@cand.uscourts.gov.
Courtesy copies when filing documents under seal in civil cases:
For documents submitted in connection with administrative motions to seal, parties shall provide courtesy copies of the unredacted documents with proposed redacted material highlighted, as required by Civil Local Rule 79-5(d)(1)(D), only. Do not submit courtesy copies of the redacted versions of documents sought to be sealed.
To the extent that filings include both sealed and non-sealed materials, courtesy copies should include all material, including the unredacted version of proposed sealed material integrated with the non-sealed material. For instance, a courtesy copy of a declaration in which the parties sought to seal Exhibit 2 would contain: the declaration; Exhibit 1; unredacted version of Exhibit 2 with proposed redacted material highlighted; Exhibit 3; etc.
